Favorite Pink Hair Dyes
My first pink dye job was in Summer 2011. I bought a Splat kit from my local Rite Aid and used Punky Colors. It was a mess. A big mess. I’ve since gotten much better at dying my hair.
Jerome Russell’s Punky Colors
Flamingo Pink or Rose Red
3 out of 5 stars
This dye was messy. I don’t like the tub packaging for colored dyes. Makes it harder for you to put dye in your little mixing bowl, another utensil or thing to clean up later. Color was decent. Staying power was below average.
L’Oreal Color Rays
Fushia
4 out of 5 stars
This kit is awesome. It’s a bleach color combo. Application is easy. Cleanup was okay. Honestly, I always have something to clean up afterward. Since I mostly apply the dye myself, it’ll often flick off my application brush and onto the wall, or the counter, or the mirror. Bleach didn’t damage my hair either.
Beyond the Zone
Raspberry Kamikaze
4 out of 5 stars
Easy to use bottle that has an applicator tip. Average staying power. Combines well with other colors. Messiness factor is average.
Manic Panic
Cotton Candy Pink
2 out of 5 stars
I’ve never used this dye on its own, just in conjunction with other colors. It seemed to combine well. Staying power is probably average.
Special Effects
Atomic Pink
5 out of 5 stars
This is the strongest of all the pinks I’ve tried. You can only find these online in my area. I order it from Amazon. It lasts months. Definitely my favorite out of all of them. While it doesn’t have an applicator tip like Beyond the Zone, its cap flips open making mixing in the plastic bowl still fairly easy.
